As well as working with granite, the hardest fruit of Breton ground,
Jean-Yves entered the world of aikido, the Japanese martial art which repositions
man in the cosmic universe. According to this, strength flows from the
mind once the mind has established a link between heaven and earth. In
this way it acquires power - and power flows in the blood of the man...
Between the tatami, the workshop and sea air, Jean-Yves established the link between his Celtic heritage and Japanese culture. After this, he started to “breathe” the world. |

One evening in 1989 he put his tools in his bag and set off for Berlin, where everything was chaotic. He carved the Wall through which a man peers, through parted curtains, at the outside world. The work did not survive the “Mauerspekten” who tore off the concrete ends to the curtain - just for a few dollars. The sculptor, driven by the need to revitalise his work, managed to trace it, helped by the Wall Museum. He managed to bring the sculpture back to Perros-Guirrec, “The man who passes”. |

Two years later this led to the creation of "The Passage", a
monumental granite gate with sensors to create sound as you pass through.
Jean-Yves will continue to travel the world. “If I where not a sculptor, I would be a nomad”. |

Man of his word, he establishes the link by endlessly carving the stone of his native country. A raw material with which he feels a complete affinity and always returns to, even after excursions into ice or snow. “I carve in eternity in an ephemeral world”. From Manchuria in China to Mexico or the Antilles, throughout the world, Jean-Yves leaves his mark, creating a new spiritual dimension. Constantly linking heaven and earth - he carved a project of nine megaliths
which are the first stanzas of "The Song of the Stone".
